Pastry Commis Chef Job Description – Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent care to our guests.
- Ensure that areas of responsibility are clean and well maintained and cleaning checklists are adhered to.
- Report defective materials and equipment to the appropriate Departments.

- Have strong product knowledge of all areas of the hotel.
- Ensure that the ambience in departments (lights, music, and temperature) are controlled.
- Accept a flexible work schedule necessary for uninterrupted service to Hotel guests and maintain flexibility within teams.
- Ensure the hotel achieves the targets and that the highest standards of luxury and quality are delivered consistently to our guests.
- Comply with the hotels cash handling procedure.
- Understand and comply with the hotel’s employee handbook.
- Attend departmental daily briefings.
- Adhere to the hotel’s grooming procedures.
- Attend appraisal reviews when requested by Head of Department.
- Clock in and out at the start and finish of each shift and for breaks. Inform your manager if you did not receive your break entitlement.
- Attend monthly departmental meetings.
- Comply with the hotel’s Fire and Emergency procedures, as well as Health & Safety regulations and Food Hygiene regulations of the hotel.
- Ensure all accidents and incidents are investigated and reported in accordance with the hotel’s accident/ incident reporting procedure.
- Support the hotel’s Environmental policy by complying with waste management and monitor energy efficiency.
- Carry out all duties in line with departmental Standards Manual.
- Prepare desserts in line with menu cards.
- Ensure the pastry section is fully prepared for service.
- Be fully aware of any menu updates, hotel promotions, corporate promotions or specials.
- Be knowledgeable and informed about the introduction of products.
- Carry out cleaning as required.
- Liaise with other departments to ensure that all guest requests are attended to efficiently.
- Be a good team player, reliable, innovative, and motivated.
